There will be a new zoning plan for Nuenen West. This is necessary because it will allow the construction of Nuenen West to continue on schedule. And that, in turn, is important because the demand for housing in the region is very high. The developer and the municipality have also agreed to adopt the Nuenen West rezoning plan in April 2021. This zoning plan will also define how we deal with traffic in Nuenen West. Both within the district and out of the district.

Research and refine accessibility Nuenen West

On December 10, 2020, the City Council decided that Opwettenseweg will be closed to through traffic. How the traffic flow will proceed has been further investigated/refined. This included research into the variant introduced by the council via amendment.

The City Council was briefed on the results of the study and refinement at a theme meeting on Monday, Feb. 22, 2021. The related documents from this meeting can be found below.

College decision on refined access variant X

As a result of the report, the Municipal Executive decided on February 23, 2021 to include the refined access variant X in the new Nuenen West zoning plan. In this access variant, the northernmost part (phase 3) and the middle part (phase 1) of Nuenen West will be accessed via the Europalaan and the southernmost part (phase 2) via Wettenseind via the Geldropsedijk. The structure for the purpose of this plan was deliberately created after an intensive process with council and participants (see below under Dialogue). Knowing that no single decision will satisfy all stakeholders, the college has made a choice based on objective, qualitative grounds.

Procedure zoning plan Realignment Nuenen West

With the refined access variant X as the starting point, the final studies for the zoning plan are currently being completed. The Nuenen West Realignment zoning plan is scheduled to be presented to the council for adoption on April 29, 2021. In anticipation of this, the council proposal will be discussed in the Space Committee on April 13, 2021. Click here for the agenda and, among other things, this council proposal.
In both the committee and the council meeting, there will be opportunities for interested parties to contribute/ speak in. After adoption, the Nuenen West Realignment zoning plan will be open for appeal/higher appeal.
