Dialogue traffic access Nuenen West

Opening up Nuenen West is a complex issue, with many and very involved stakeholders. This is why we held several dialogue sessions with all parties in 2020. With representation from political groups, interest groups and substantive stakeholders, we organized a broad and informal dialogue focused on the most appropriate solution for the traffic access to Nuenen West and the function of the Opwettenseweg in it. There was room to contribute ideas, in addition to solutions that had already been thought up. Together with those involved, we explored the support for possible solutions and examined the arguments. We then had possible solutions calculated. The effects on livability and traffic safety were described for all variants. The result was then presented in a council proposal that was discussed in the council meeting on December 10.

On this webpage you can find all (background) information of the dialogue, such as frequently asked questions and answers (FAQ), reports of the dialogue sessions with stakeholders and research reports.

Process dialogue

  • Starting in late May 2020, we conducted online and telephone check-in interviews with various stakeholders.
  • Later in the year, we organized four dialogue sessions. The related documents are below.
  • On December 10, 2020, the College of b&w approved the Council proposal for Nuenen West Access. This is on the agenda of the space committee on November 24, 2020 .
  • In December 2020, the City Council made a decision on the access structure (in outline) of Nuenen West.

Regional mobility

Local mobility and livability

  • Mobility Vision Nuenen 2017 - The vision includes an assessment of opportunities and threats and an overall direction for Nuenen's mobility policy in the region (given the Accessibility Agreement/Agendas). The vision places regional project sheets in the local context. It is also a prelude to local choices, with or without regional influence. It builds on the structure of the Nuenen West 2008 zoning plan and provides roughly 3 options for access for motorized traffic, without already making a choice itself.
  • Council Proposal Mobility Vision

Mobility policy modules

For each modality, there is a policy module, summarized as Integrated Implementation Program in Module 8. The council has adopted this as a guiding framework. The modules push for realization (including bicycle traffic and traffic safety) and are more consequential in other parts (public transport, smart mobility). Read more on the Mobility Policy webpage.

Study Livability and accessibility Bundle Routes Nuenen

The study takes place as an extension of Environmental Vision, results land there later. Approach according to area-based broad interests approach, aimed at 2030, 2040 and beyond. Broad participation. Project leader provides province with official and administrative responsibility for Nuenen. Quality of life and accessibility are the main issues on the busy southwest side of Nuenen. It is particularly interesting that the province is now at the table both as the A270 road authority and as a policy-making body.

Monitoring livability, report phase 1 AiREAS

The aim was to determine the zero measurement on the basis of which 'stand still' liveability in Nuenen could be determined (as mentioned in module Liveability and Mobility Vision). Measurements of particulate matter appear complicated (technically meters are not fully developed, not all meters give reliable results) effects of traffic are still unclear (very much in individual human actions and broad background values). Does fit within the WHO values. Phase 2= measuring around Eeneind, against Nuenen southwest.
