View environmental plan
What is it?
If you want to know what's in the environmental plan for a particular area, you can view it at City Hall or through the Environmental Counter.
An environmental plan states how the land in an area and the buildings on it may be used. For example, an area may be zoned for businesses or just for housing. The municipal council determines what is in an environmental plan.
How does it work?
If you want to know what zoning an area has, for example, if you are buying a house or want to start a business, the environmental plan answers questions such as:
- May construction or remodeling take place?
- Are companies allowed to locate here?
- How may a piece of land be used?
- May roads be built?
What to do.
View environmental plans through the Environment Desk or at City Hall.
Additional information
An environmental plan consists of:
- 1 or more Maps of the plan. This is called an imagination or plan map. On it you can see where building and/or living is allowed, for example, and where businesses are allowed to locate.
- rules governing whether and how to build and how to use the land
- an explanation explaining the environmental plan and why those rules were chosen
