Environment, permit or notification

What is it?
Sometimes activities are carried out that pose a risk to the living environment. We call this an 'environmentally harmful activity'. For example, an activity that produces noise, a discharge into the soil or water, storing and working with hazardous substances.
Many of these activities take place on business premises, but some activities also take place outside. In public spaces or on private (non-business) property.
Most environmentally harmful activities are regulated in the Decree on activities in the living environment. This states what is allowed, what is not allowed and which Requirements apply.
Many environmentally harmful activities are regulated through "general rules. This means that you do not need a permit as long as you comply with these rules. Sometimes, however, a notification must be made before the activity can be started. In some cases, an environmental permit is required.
Permit or notification
Both a permit application and a notification for an environmentally harmful activity can be done through the Omgevingsloket. The Omgevingsdienst Zuidoost-Brabant (ODZOB) receives these notifications and applications and assesses them on behalf of the municipality. ODZOB sends a letter about the decision.
To submit a permit application or notification, you must log in to the Environment Counter.
If you are logging in as a company, you will need eHerkenning.
If you are logging in as an individual, you will need DigiD.
Not sure whether you need a permit or a notification? Then first use the permit check on the Omgevingsloket. You do not need eRecognition or DigiD to run a permit check.o
What does it cost?
Filing a notification for an environmentally harmful activity is free of charge. There are costs associated with applying for a permit. These can be found in the fee regulations.
