Mobility Policy
As a municipality, we have adopted a mobility vision in the area of traffic and mobility. In it you can read what course the municipality has mapped out for car accessibility, the livability of neighborhoods, road safety, routes for bicycle traffic, etc.
Opportunities and threats for all modes and livability
The mobility vision is about Nuenen in the middle of an increasingly busy region. In that region (Brainport), municipalities are working together to find solutions. The mobility vision outlines what that means for Nuenen. This involves not only motorized traffic but also bicycle traffic, traffic safety, quality of life, public transportation and smart mobility. The vision is not yet a concrete implementation plan, but outlines the opportunities and threats for all modes of transport and livability. The City Council adopted this vision in December 2017.
Mobility modules
For each mode of transport, the mobility vision is elaborated in modules. The policy was adopted by the City Council in December 2019 as a guiding framework. It includes policies for livability (module 2), bicycle traffic (3), public transportation (4) traffic safety (6), and smart mobility (7). A separate module 5 describes the process to achieve improvements for parking and traffic in the Nuenen center. (This process has been gone through and resulted in an advice from the Mobility sub-working group). Module 1. Motorized Traffic has not yet been adopted. The regional and local measures mentioned in it are being studied further. We are doing this in the study Livability and accessibility Bundle Routes Nuenen. This study will be started in mid-2020.
- Module 1 Motorized Traffic + Appendix 1 summary exploratory study Bundle Routes - This module has not been addressed. We will include conceivable measures in the Study of Livability and Accessibility. Module has been adapted following motions and amendments.
- Module 2 Livability - This module is a plan of action for baseline measurement and regional rollout, adopted December 12, 2019. Goal is to determine guideline "stand still livability" on balance for all of Nuenen.
- Module 3 Bicycle Traffic - This module includes express bicycle routes identified including the Opwettenseweg-Bultsepad.
- Module 4 Public transportation
- Module 5 Parking and traffic center (plan of action)
- Module 6 Traffic Safety + Appendix 1: objective traffic safety + Appendix 2: flow chart crossing + Appendix 3: road categorization map - This module includes Opwettenseweg as most unsafe route, result of integral weighing complaints, accidents, measurements.
- Module 7 Smart Mobility
- Module 8 Integral Package of Measures + Appendix Amendments and Motions (+reaction to them) on adoption of policy modules
