Silver medal of honor for Dré Bemelmans

Mayor Madeleine van Toorenburg presented the silver medal of honor to Mr. Dré Bemelmans at his farewell as headman at St. Antoniusschut Eeneind-Opwetten. From 1977 he has dedicated himself to the schut and the last 21 years he was headman. Under his leadership this guild has grown with currently 47 active members. He was also councilor of district North of the Kring Kempenland, where 8 guilds are affiliated. From 2010 he coordinated the joint activities of the five Nuenen guilds, such as the notice of the fair and the liberation commemoration. The 200 North Brabant archers' guilds are part of our intangible cultural heritage. The traditions, rituals and customs are passed on from generation to generation. With this silver medal of honor, the city council wants to express its appreciation and gratitude. Congratulations!
