Certificate of good conduct (VOG)
Directly arrange
What is it?
Employers and other organizations can ask for a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). It is proof of good behavior.
Avoid unnecessary costs
Please note: only apply for the Certificate of Good Conduct using the steps below. If you arrange your application through a website other than that of Dienst Justis or the municipality of Nuenen, you are dealing with a commercial intermediary. The additional costs (in addition to the standard fee of €41.35) can then run into tens of euros.
Three ways to apply for a VOG
1. Applying through Dienst Justis
You apply for a VOG online, together with the person requesting it, for example your employer. It is then no longer necessary for the employee to submit the VOG application to the municipality. A digital VOG application to Justis is faster and cheaper.
Applying for a VOG digitally at Justis is only possible if the organization, for which you need a VOG, has prepared the application digitally for you. Your employer starts the application:
- Your employer applies for the VOG online and completes the employer portion.*
- You will receive an email with a link and complete the questionnaire online (using DigiD).
- Dienst Justis checks your information.
- If everything is approved, you will receive notification from Dienst Justis within 4 weeks.
2. Applying digitally to the municipality
Are you unable to meet the Requirements for an online application, for example, when working or studying abroad? Or does the company not have eRecognition?
Then you can apply online through the municipality. In doing so, go through the following steps:
- Print out the application form from the Ministry of Security and Justice website.
- You and your employer complete the form in full.
- Click here to go to the municipality's digital form
- Log in with your DigiD.
- Upload the completed application form.
- You pay for the application via iDEAL.
- The municipality forwards your application to Justis.
- You will be sent the VOG at home.
3. Application at the counter
Then use the paper application form and come to the front desk by appointment.
- Print out the application form from the Ministry of Security and Justice website.
- You and your employer complete the form.
- Make an appointment to drop off the application at the municipality. Bring your proof of identity with you. You can also authorize someone. Employer abroad? Then also bring a letter showing that you need the certificate and the details of the future employer/educational institution.
If you are not registered with a Dutch municipality, make your application directly to the Ministry of Security and Justice.
