Types of ceremony

The Municipality of Nuenen offers three different variants of a wedding/partnership ceremony. 

  • Simple Ceremony
    Lasts 15 to 20 minutes. The wedding officiant bases your Dutch-language speech on input you provide in advance on an A4 sheet.
     
  • Extended ceremony
    Lasts up to 45 minutes. A preliminary conversation with your wedding officiant will take place beforehand in which your wishes and personal story will be discussed. Ceremony can be in Dutch or English (please note: none of our wedding officiants are native speakers).
     
  • Free ceremony
    See Requirements below.

Simple ceremony

  • Time: Monday through Thursday on the full hour (no half hours) between 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.
    This is subject to us being able to provide an available official and location. Only available on the full hour.
     
  • Language: Dutch.
     
  • Duration: 15 to 20 minutes.
     
  • Wedding location: the wedding hall of the town hall.
     
  • Wedding officiant:
    We will be happy to select a suitable and available wedding officiant for you. No preference can be given here. An in-house babs (not employed by the municipality of Nuenen) is only possible for an elaborate ceremony.
     
  • Music
    No music is played during a simple ceremony.
     
  • Preliminary track  
    In a simple ceremony, there is no room for speeches from other attendees. The wedding officiant will tailor a personal speech based on the input you provide for it: 
    • A questionnaire with practical information. 
    • A letter stating your personal story and wishes. 
       
  • Wedding/partnership booklet is included.

Extended ceremony

  • Time 
    • 24 hours a day on the hour (no half hours), subject to official and location availability.
    • Available 7 days a week. 
       
  • Language
    Dutch-language or English-language speech (note: none of our wedding officiants are native speakers).
     
  • Duration
    The ceremony lasts a maximum of 45 minutes.
     
  • Wedding Location 
    • City Hall (wedding hall). Here there is room for 20/25 people. 
    • D'n Kleine Dommel
      Prior to your report, make a reservation at D'n Kleine Dommel. 
    • Van Gogkerkje Nuenen
      Prior to your report, make a reservation at the Van Goghkerkje. 
    • The Water Mill of Opwetten
      Prior to your report, make a reservation at The Water Mill.
    • Other venues in Nuenen can be nominated as one-time wedding venues as follows: 
      • Register your marriage/partnership using the online notification form. 
      • Enter in the "additional information" field that you are choosing a private wedding venue. 
      • We will contact you to arrange the one-time designation with you.
         
  • Wedding officiant
    You can indicate your preference for a wedding officiant. You can do this through the online notification form. In the "additional information" field, enter that you choose to have your own babs.
     
  • Own wedding officiant
    Own wedding officiant possible (see additional costs at the bottom of this page). It is best to contact us in advance by phone at 040 - 263 1631 or send us an email(burgerzaken@nuenen.nl). Then, when registering your wedding/partnership, please indicate in the 'additional information' box that you are using your own wedding officiant.
     
  • Music
    Upon entering or during the signing of the deed, you may play music (provide your own).
     
  • Preparation 
    We ask you to provide the following input. 
    • A questionnaire with practical information. 
    • A letter stating your personal story and wishes for the speech. 
       
  • Preparation
    Prior to the ceremony, you will have a personal meeting with your wedding officiant. Here your wishes and the possibilities will be discussed. During the preliminary interview, your babs will gather additional information to incorporate into his/her speech.
     
  • Wedding/partnership booklet is included.
     
  • You may take the parker pen you use to sign the deed with you afterwards.

Cost 

  • Monday to Thursday: € 690.00
  • Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays: €735.00 

Free ceremony

You cannot arrange this notification online.

  • Possible if 1 of you both lives in Nuenen. 
  • Space for up to 10 people (including (bridal) couple/witnesses). 
  • The ceremony takes place in a consulting room at City Hall. 
  • Only the formal part of the consummation is covered. 
  • No pre-meeting with the wedding officiant, music or speeches possible. 

Cost 

  • No charge. 
  • Wedding/partnership booklet not included. You can order this for an additional €43.15: please mention this when registering.
