Employ your own wedding officiant

You can choose your own wedding officiant who is not employed by the municipality of Nuenen. 

Our Civil Status Regulations require that the person is currently active as a wedding officiant in another municipality and performs extended marriages there (see Article 3). 

Requirements to perform a marriage in Nuenen

  • A current affidavit as (b)abs by the court,
  • A current designation of (b)abs in another municipality,
  • currently active as babs(performing extended marriages ) for the same municipality
    (for this we may contact them and/or request additional documentation),
  • the babs holds a valid passport/identity card. 

An abs is only possible if he/she is currently actively performing extended marriages/partnerships. 

Application procedure 

  • First, check that your desired wedding officiant meets the Requirements above.
  • Report your proposed marriage or partnership. Do this no later than 12 weeks before the day of the ceremony.
  • Choose extended ceremony in the form.  
  • Enter in the "additional information" field that you are choosing to have your own wedding officiant.  
  • We will contact you to discuss and arrange the one-time designation with you. 

Cost of one-time designation
