Participation program rural areas
In 2021, the Nuenen City Council adopted the environmental vision. In it we set the course for Nuenen in the longer term. For certain subjects, we will elaborate on that course. First up is the rural area of Nuenen. These are the white areas on the Map.
What are we going to do?
We are quite proud of the rural area of Nuenen! It is not for nothing that this area is part of the Van Gogh National Park. We want to preserve those qualities. At the same time people live and work in that rural area. We want to continue to offer them prospects for the future. That will not happen by itself. There are many developments that play a role in this. That is why we are making a program in which we elaborate our ambitions for the rural area but also propose measures to realize those ambitions.
How are we going to do that?
As a municipality, we cannot do this alone. We need the help of residents, entrepreneurs, users, and other stakeholders in rural areas. We therefore cordially invite you to join us.
That participation happens in two steps:
- We are thinking about principles we want to use for this program;
- Based on these guiding principles, we elaborate on our ambitions, think about their implementation (measures, financing) and consider who will take on what roles and tasks.
Where are we now?
We have now held our first well-attended meeting with agricultural entrepreneurs. During this meeting, we discussed how the agricultural sector is dealing with the increasing pressure on space due to the demand for additional housing, energy generation, recreation, and nature development.
Twenty-six people have signed up for the sounding board group. The first meeting is scheduled for December 17, 2025. With this sounding board group, we will continue to discuss the function of rural areas in our municipality based on specific themes.
What are we going to do?
We will start by drawing up a Memorandum of Principles. We will do this again in collaboration with interest groups. Invitations to participate will follow shortly. We would like to discuss this Memorandum of Principles with the current city council.
