Grant for Insulation and Ventilation
A well-insulated home is more comfortable, uses less energy, and is ready for the future. That’s why the municipality is offering a grant to help you with insulation and ventilation.
Insulating your home helps keep the heat inside in the winter and outside in the summer. You’ll experience fewer drafts and save on your energy bill. Plus, insulation is the first step toward a more sustainable home and makes it easier to implement other measures, such as installing a heat pump.
You can combine this subsidy with the national ISDE subsidy. The municipal subsidy covers up to 70% of the costs, up to a maximum of €1,750. In addition , you can receive a €500 bonus if you choose biobased insulation material. You will also receive an additional €500 in subsidies if it is necessary to have your home treated to remove pests by a certified company before installing insulation.
On this page, you can find out whether you are eligible to apply for the grant, what Requirements you must meet, and how to apply for the grant.
Combine with the ISDE grant
The municipal subsidy can be combined with the ISDE subsidy from the national government. The ISDE subsidy covers up to 30% of the insulation costs. Therefore, our municipal subsidy covers up to 70% of the costs. By applying for both subsidies, you may be able to have 100% of the costs covered.
Do-it-yourselfers are reimbursed 100% of the costs (up to the maximum amount) because they are not eligible to apply for an ISDE grant.
Who is eligible for the grant?
You can apply for a grant if you meet the following Requirements :
- You own and live in a home you purchased in the municipality of Nuenen
- Your home was built before 1990. (Check your home's year of construction at )
- As of January 1, 2022 (reference date), your home had a WOZ value of no more than €556,000 (View the WOZ value at )
- The home is poorly insulated; you can demonstrate this as follows:
- The home has a registered energy efficiency rating of D, E, F, or G (Check the energy efficiency rating at, or
- The home has at least two poorly insulated sections (You can read more about what this means and how to check for it below.)
- You are insulating a poorly insulated part of the house
- The isolation measure complies with the list of measures
- The insulation measures were carried out on or after January 1, 2025
Important points to note:
- The municipality may conduct random inspections to verify whether the specified insulation measures have been implemented.
- The grant runs through December 31, 2028, and will be provided as long as funding is available. There is currently sufficient funding. If funding begins to run low, we will post a notice on this page.
- This website contains the most important information. You can also review the full subsidy program.
- Are you ineligible for the subsidy? Ask an energy coach about the options for your home. Insulation is a measure that always pays off, even without a subsidy. Once you’ve insulated your home, you’ll immediately save money on your energy bills and improve your living comfort.
What are two poorly insulated building components?
Does your home not have an energy label, or does it have an energy label of A, B, or C? If so, you may still be able to apply for a subsidy. Your home must have at least two poorly insulated sections.
A home consists of four structural components: the exterior walls, the roof, the floor, and the windows. If at least two of these structural components are poorly insulated, you meet this subsidy requirement.
Check to see if your home has two poorly insulated sections.
What can you receive a grant for?
You can receive a grant for insulation measures as well as for energy-efficient ventilation measures. This combination is designed to ensure your home is properly ventilated after it has been insulated. While you can easily do this by opening windows, doing so reduces the benefits of the insulation due to heat loss. That is why energy-efficient ventilation measures are also included in the grant.
To be eligible for a subsidy, the measures must meet the minimum Requirements specified in the list of measures. Please ensure that the insulation and ventilation measures meet the required insulation values and minimum surface areas. A contractor or supplier can assist you with this.

Not sure where to start? Here's an example.
We understand that insulating your home can be a major undertaking. That’s why we’re happy to work with you to find the best solution. Below, we’ve provided an overview of what the process of insulating your home might look like. For each step, we explain who can help you. We hope this helps you get a clear picture of the process.
- Step 1: Assess the condition of your home
First, you need to know what work has already been done on your home and what the current insulation situation is. You can figure this out on your own, but an energy coach from Energiehuis Slim Wonen would be happy to help you assess it. They’ll not only look at the current condition and possible improvements, but the energy coaches can also work with you to consider your wishes and needs. That way, you’ll gain insight into what works best for you. - Step 2: Determine what you want to have done
The second step is to determine what you want to have insulated. You can decide this on your own or go over it with an energy coach. You’re in charge of your home. An energy coach can help you get a clear picture of the situation and create a plan. Based on this, you can then contact insulation companies that can carry out the work. - Step 3: Ask a few insulation companies to come by for a no-obligation visit
Ask several insulation companies to come by. They’ll assess the situation with you, outline the options, and prepare a quote based on their findings. - Step 4: Compare multiple quotes
Try to compare multiple quotes in terms of content and price. This makes it easier to make a good choice. Energy coaches can also review the quotes with you. - Step 5: Insulate
Have the insulation work done (or do it yourself). - Step 6: Check to see if you're satisfied
Feel free to watch the company at work to see exactly what they're doing. It can be nice to know how your home is put together. - Step 7: Pay the insulation company
Request an invoice from the insulation company that lists the insulation material, the insulation value, and the number of square meters insulated. You will then use this for your grant application. - Step 8: Apply for the grant
You can now apply for the grant with the municipality. To do so, go to the application form.
How to Apply for the Grant
Apply for the grant after the insulation work has been completed. You can choose which insulation company will perform the work, or you can do it yourself. If you plan to do it yourself, be sure to read the “Do-It-Yourself” section first. Check carefully in advance to make sure you meet all the grant requirements.
You can apply for the grant using the online application form. To do so, follow the steps below.
Step 1. Gather all the necessary information
Health Please have the following information ready:
Information About Your Home
- Property's WOZ value
- Year the house was built
- Information about the energy label or the two poorly insulated building sections
Proof of the work performed
- The invoice(s) for the insulation work, which include:
- The insulation material used

- Total insulated area (inm²) per measure
Photos of the work:
- Carried out by a company: photos taken during the work
- Do-It-Yourself: Photos Before, During, and After the Work
- The invoice(s) for the insulation work, which include:
Other Information
- Your bank account number where you would like to receive the grant amount
- DigiD login credentials
- If applicable, a statement of income or proof that you receive an energy allowance. This may make you eligible for a higher subsidy.
Step 2: Fill out the online application form
Fill out the application form completely. After you submit it, you will receive a confirmation that the municipality has received your application.
Step 3: The municipality reviews your application
If any information is missing or additional details are needed, the municipality will contact you.
Step 4. Receive Your Grant
Following a positive review, you will receive the grant amount in the bank account you provided. You will receive written confirmation of the grant award.
Do-It-Yourself
Are you carrying out the insulation work yourself? If so, you can still apply for a grant. The application process is almost the same as when you hire an insulation company. You provide the same information, but instead of invoices from a contractor, you submit the receipts or invoices for the materials used.
You can apply for the do-it-yourself grant for the following measures
- Roof insulation on the inside of a sloped roof
- Attic or attic floor insulation
- Floor or subfloor insulation
- Interior wall insulation with a false wall
- Energy-Efficient Ventilation Measures
How much of a do-it-yourself grant can you receive?
You will be reimbursed up to 100% of the material costs, up to a maximum of €1,750. If you choose biobased insulation material , you can receive an additional subsidy of €500. The maximum subsidy in that case is €2,250.
If you’re doing the work yourself, you cannot receive an additional subsidy for making your home “nature-free.” The measures for which you, as a do-it-yourselfer, can receive a subsidy do not affect the cavity wall or the exterior of the roof. As a result, protected animal species are not impacted, and it is unnecessary to have your home made “nature-free.”
Here's what you'll need to apply for the grant
- Proofs of Purchase
- Receipts or invoices for the insulation materials used. These must be from a home improvement store or another business registered with the Chamber of Commerce.
- The receipt or invoice must clearly state:
- What type of insulation material was purchased;

Biobased insulation materials
Are you choosing biobased insulation material? If so, you can receive an additional €500 in subsidies. The receipt or invoice must clearly state that a biobased insulation material was used that meets the “ Requirements ” (Biobased) requirement listed in the measures list.
What are biobased materials?
Biobased insulation materials are made from renewable natural raw materials, such as wood fiber, flax, hemp, straw, cellulose, or bamboo. These materials are renewable and have absorbed CO₂ as they grew. As a result, their environmental impact is often lower than that of many traditional insulation materials.
Why are we promoting these materials?
Biobased insulation materials are a sustainable choice. They often have a lower environmental impact and can contribute to a comfortable and healthy indoor climate. In addition, many biobased materials handle moisture well and help keep your home cool longer in the summer.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Using Biobased Materials
| Advantages | Disadvantages |
| Better air quality and a healthier living environment | Sometimes more expensive than traditional materials |
| May help reduce moisture and mold problems | Not every company has experience with biobased insulation materials |
| Keeps heat out more effectively in the summer and helps reduce heat stress | Some products are harder to find |
| Made from renewable natural resources | Depending on the material, the insulation value may be slightly lower |
| Lower environmental impact |
Environmentally Friendly Insulation
Are you having a certified company remove wildlife from your home before implementing certain insulation measures? If so, you may be eligible for an additional €500 in subsidies. The municipality wants to help residents make their homes more sustainable while also protecting endangered species.
To be eligible for this grant, the invoice must show that the home has been made pest-free. In addition, please include photos of the work performed with your grant application.
Additional grant of up to €5,000
Some lower-income households are eligible for an increased subsidy of up to €5,000. With this additional support , the municipality aims to help lower-income residents enjoy a more comfortable home with low energy costs.
The municipality has contacted as many eligible residents as possible directly. If you haven’t received a letter, you may still be able to take advantage of this program.
When are you eligible for an additional grant?
You are eligible if you receive an energy allowance or if your income does not exceed 130% of the social assistance standard (including vacation pay). Starting in July 2026, this means:
Situation | Social Assistance Benefit Amount as of July 2026(Changes every six months) | Maximum gross monthly income for the “ |
| Single | € 1419,46 | € 1.845,34 |
| Married or living together | € 2027,79 | € 2.636,13 |
These amounts are effective as of July 1, 2026, and are subject to change every six months. On the website of the Rijksoverheid you will always find the current social assistance standard.
Multiply the current social assistance standard (from the table at Rijksoverheid) by 1.3. If your monthly income (including vacation pay) is lower than that amount, you are eligible for the increased subsidy.
Do you think you qualify? If so, please include proof of receipt of the energy allowance, your three most recent pay stubs, and/or your benefit statements with your grant application. The municipality will then determine whether you are eligible for this supplemental program.
