Start of preparatory work on SCAN geothermal study in Town of Gerwen

On the Raamdijk in Stad van Gerwen, temporary exploratory drilling for geothermal heat will start in April. Preparatory work will begin on site in Week 3. This will be SCAN's sixth drilling.

The purpose of this research is to Map the potential of geothermal heat for this region. At this location, SCAN will explore multiple strata with one drilling. Earth layers often extend far into the subsurface. Drilling at a strategically chosen location, such as the Raamdijk, provides information about a much larger area. Such as the eastern half of the province of North Brabant and the middle of Limburg.

The investigation including testing will take about 9 - 10 weeks. The drilling will go to a maximum depth of 1.9 km. Then the site will be restored and returned to its original state.
