Regional Energy Strategy 1.0 adopted by city council
In Nuenen we are working together to create a sustainable municipality. So that Nuenen remains a pleasant place to live and work. Step by step we are working on the energy transition: in the coming years we will generate more and more sustainable electricity from solar energy and we will insulate our homes and buildings.
We are also getting to work at the regional level, in the Metropolitan Region of Eindhoven (MRE). The ambitions of the MRE (municipalities, province and water boards) are laid down in the Regional Energy Strategy 1.0 (hereafter: RES 1.0). The RES 1.0 was recently adopted by the Nuenen City Council.
What is the RES 1.0?
The RES 1.0 contains the ambitions surrounding the generation of large-scale energy (from solar and wind energy). The RES also looks at ways to save energy (after all, everything that is not needed does not have to be generated) and maps out the regional heat demand. In Nuenen it was discussed by the council on December 16. Nuenen currently has no search areas within the RES (locations where we can eventually place solar meadows and wind turbines) for solar meadows or wind turbines in the RES 1.0. Nuenen's contribution is mainly focused on solar on roofs and encouraging energy conservation.
The RES 1.0 is available for download from the website www.energieregiomre.nl. You can find the full RES 1.0 and the summary public version RES 1.0.
Adopted in Nuenen city council
The RES 1.0 is being considered by all municipal councils. In Nuenen, the RES 1.0 was adopted by the municipal council on Thursday, December 16, 2021. After the treatments in the municipal councils, the RES 1.0 will be presented to the National Program Regional Energy Strategy (hereafter: NP RES). The NP RES reviews and compares the plans with other regions in the Netherlands to see if the goals of the National Climate Agreement are achievable.
Follow-up and more information
The MRE region is embarking on a Cooperation and Implementation Plan to achieve the ambitions in the RES 1.0 step by step.
