Parking survey blue zone
The blue zone in the center of Nuenen has been in place for over a year. It certainly took some getting used to in the beginning, but by now most people are familiar with the maximum parking time of two hours and the use of a parking disc.
Blue zone evaluation
As a municipality, we are curious about the performance of the blue zone. Has the blue zone indeed provided more parking for visitors to the center? How is the waiver system working for residents? Have any new bottlenecks arisen? And what improvements, if any, are still desirable to the (dispensation) policy and/or the size of the blue zone? It is therefore time for an evaluation.
Parking survey Oct. 8 to 17
As part of the evaluation, we are conducting a parking survey. During the period from Thursday, October 8 to Saturday, October 17, parking occupancy and parking duration in and around the center will be measured. Employees/counters of a specialized company will note the number of parked vehicles and part of the license plate number. Privacy is maintained in this process. The counters walk through the center and wear recognizable reflective vests. The counts take place at different times of the day, making the timing similar to a previous parking survey from 2016. In the analysis, the municipality takes into account the influence of Corona measures on parking behavior.
Parking survey update
Due to the recent partial Corona lockdown, we have not been able to fully complete the parking survey. Due to the complete closure of the hospitality industry, the situation is no longer representative as of Thursday, October 15. We are therefore using the data collected through Wednesday, October 14, 2020 for an interim analysis. Depending on the usefulness of this data and the duration of the partial lockdown, we will either conduct the missing count days later this year or schedule a future time for a complete new parking survey.
