Open Monument Day September 10, 2022 on sustainability
Saturday, September 10, is Open Monument Day. In Nuenen, Heemkundekring De Drijehornick is organizing Open Monument Day in cooperation with the municipality. The theme this year is sustainability. Monuments are by their very nature already sustainable. Yet there is still much that can be done to make monuments more sustainable.
On the Friday preceding Open Monument Day, a meeting will be held for all owners of Nuenen monuments. Village architect Harry van Helmond and Jan Vellekoop of local history society De Drijehornick will give a lecture on making monuments more sustainable and the challenges involved. Monument owners can register at: janvelleko@gmail.com.
On Saturday, September 10, between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., you can take a short walk past monumental buildings on which much has already been done. The owners explain on the spot what they have done and give tips. This is interesting for owners of monuments and other interested parties. Some properties can also be visited.
The starting point of the walk is the Heemhuis at Papenvoort 15A in Nuenen. Upon returning to the Heemhuis, you can give your opinion on how successful you think the preservation of the monumental buildings has been.
