Trimming hedges and mowing roadsides

The municipality of Nuenen has again started trimming the hedges and mowing the roadsides.

Every year our contractor starts this in the third week of June. Plants get a growth spurt around the longest day (June 21), the St. John's lock. That's why the hedges are cut from that time, so they stay neat for a long time.

Cutting the hedges will take about six weeks and should be completed by the end of July. The contractor will use a small tractor with a moving fence to do this. This may cause some inconvenience on busy roads.

Other overgrowth of plantings is also trimmed, but is not covered by this round. For this, our contractor makes a separate round, with different machinery, so that the period of hedge cutting is as short as possible.

Berms

We begin by mowing the roadsides, followed by mowing the waterways. The sight corners are completely mowed to ensure traffic safety. On the roadsides, we will occasionally leave 20% for insects and other animals to survive, which will benefit biodiversity. The contractor is working with a moving barrier; this may cause temporary disruption on the road.
