Noise pollution at Eindhoven airport not increased further

A recent study by the GGD shows that serious noise and sleep disturbance caused by air traffic will not increase in 2023 compared to 2018. In the 10 municipalities around the airport, an average of 14% of residents experience noise and 7% experience sleep disturbance.

In the municipality of Nuenen, annoyance is much lower: there, only 2% of residents experience severe noise annoyance and 0% experience sleep disturbance.

The results show that things are improving after the trial of Eindhoven Airport in 2018-2019. Measures have been taken, such as fewer flights at night and a halt to the growth of flight movements.

Many residents do worry about air pollution from air traffic. 22% of people fear health complaints from air pollution. Attitudes toward the airport did become more positive: 65% of residents think the airport is fair or very good.

The GGD will present the study on Dec. 11 to the Eindhoven Airport Consultation and on Jan. 16, 2025 in the Muzenval in Eersel, from 19:00 to 21:00. For more information, visit: Samenopdehoogte.nl.
