In fact, we always rely on everyday amenities such as the availability of power, gas, water, internet and full shelves in stores. Yet something can always happen that we don't expect. A major power or internet outage, flooding, extreme heat/rainfall or storm can have major consequences for you and the people around you. In the Netherlands, we are prepared for disasters and unpleasant events, which is why good help comes quickly.
But you can also prepare for this yourself. There are several tips on the Think Ahead website . To be prepared for an unexpected situation, it is wise to have an emergency kit ready to go.

Emergency kit
How would you respond in an emergency situation? What do you have in your home to help yourself and your roommates for at least 72 hours in these situations? It is wise to make an emergency kit . You probably already have most items in your home. Consider bottles of water, long-life food, blankets to keep warm and a flashlight.
You can easily make a package out of all the items together. Keep this package in a convenient and easily accessible place in your home. Use a waterproof package such as a backpack or bag for this purpose. You can easily carry this with you if you suddenly have to leave your home. Are you or someone around you worried? Discuss it, support and help each other.
You may be worried, or you may notice that someone close to you is worried. This is perfectly understandable. If you find that you continue to worry or when it limits your daily life, you can do something about it yourself. You can find practical tips on the Think Ahead website . Also look at the people around you. Talk to each other. Support the people who are worried, help each other with any worries or emergencies.
