December is Giving Month!
Regulator CBF advises people against buying Maps, stroopwafels, calendars, speculaas, etc. at the door. It is usually not clear how much is sold and what percentage is spent on charity.
The permit requirement provides regulation and some protection for citizens. If there is no permit for a public collection, then the collection is illegal! The police can then enforce.
You can always check in the collection roster and in the recruitment roster which organization is active in your neighborhood. This way you can be sure that the person at your door is passing by on behalf of an Approved Charity.
