Applying for special assistance

Having trouble logging in for work/income issues? Please send an email to adminsoza@dienstdommelvallei.nl.

What is it?

Special assistance ensures that people with a low income can pay necessary extra and special expenses, for which there is not sufficient income or assets. Also, the costs should not be reimbursable in any other way, such as through health insurance.

These are examples of expenses for which you may be able to receive special assistance:

  • co-payment for legal aid;
  • costs of administration.

You will not receive special assistance for expenses that everyone incurs (such as food, clothing, rent and the purchase of a refrigerator or washing machine). You cannot get special assistance for medical expenses. Residents with a low income can participate in a collective health insurance with health insurer VGZ.

What to do.

You apply for special assistance from the municipality using the digital application form.

To apply for special assistance you need DigiD. If you do not already have this you can apply for it through the DigiD website.

Are you unable to figure this out? Then contact Centrum Maatschappelijke Deelname (CMD) Nuenen at 040 - 283 16 75.

Handling your application

The municipality will decide within 8 weeks of receiving all documents. Once you have received a letter stating that you will receive the assistance, the amount will be transferred to your account as soon as possible.

How does it work?

Special assistance Requirements

  • You are over 18 years of age.
  • You have an income lower than 120% of the applicable social assistance standard*. A financial assistance percentage of 35% (for medical expenses) or 100% (for non-medical expenses) is applied to the income above this level. The amount of the financial assistance percentage depends on the nature of the costs for which you request special assistance.
  • You do not have more savings or assets than you are allowed to have for assistance. For a single person, the limit is €7,770.00 and for single parents and couples €15,540.00.
  • The costs are special: that is, they are costs you would not normally incur.
  • The cost is necessary.
  • The expenses have not yet been incurred (maximum 3 months ago): you submit the application before you incur the expenses.
  • You cannot be reimbursed for the cost anywhere else.
