Random depreciation of environmental investments (VAMIL)
VAMIL is a tax facility designed to promote investments in the interest of a sustainable environment and efficient use of energy.
Organizations can depreciate an asset on an accelerated, normal or delayed basis. Instead of the usual tax depreciation, the asset in question can, if desired, be depreciated for the full amount in one year. This creates a liquidity and interest advantage for the applicant.
The environmentally friendly technique or asset must meet the requirements of a description on the Environmental List.
Examples:
- 36% MIA and 75% VAMIL Sustainable recyclable POCB or EPDM roofing material
- 27% MIA and 75% VAMIL Scrap wood in (parts of) a structure or product
- 36% MIA and 75% VAMIL Concrete tile of at least 75% recycled material
What is the benefit?
VAMIL allows accelerated depreciation of 75% of the investment costs. The net benefit depends on the profit tax and the interest rate, among other things: on average, the net benefit is 3% of the investment amount.
For whom.
Applicants include entrepreneurs liable for income tax or corporate tax, also a government organization, foundation or association.
Deadline
Ongoing. Applications may be submitted throughout the year, but must be received within three months of commitments being made.
