Temporary housing Nuenen West
Nuenen municipality wants an attractive living environment for all its residents. We want to provide housing for all target groups, with a focus on young people (starters) and seniors. There is currently little supply for these. Demand for starter homes in particular is high throughout the region. We also want to provide housing for Nuenen residents who are looking for housing urgently.
Temporary housing Nuenen West proves unfeasible
The Nuenen West project is included in the regional acceleration task as one of the locations where we can realize accelerated housing. We have therefore looked at the possibility of realizing temporary housing in phase 3 (area above the Europalaan). A feasibility study was conducted for this purpose, which examined the possibilities, limitations and risks involved in operating 150 temporary homes.
The study shows that it is not financially feasible to tender these temporary housing units. The conclusion is that the site is suitable for the development of temporary housing, but also has limitations due to the desired housing program for lower social rent in particular and the contractual agreements that the municipality must fulfill with the developer of the area. The conclusion from the feasibility study is that a feasible business case cannot be realized based on the current agreements and assumptions. The temporary housing will therefore not be developed on the site in phase 3 of Nuenen West.

Working with BPD, we are now exploring other options to accelerate housing development for the region.
