What is it?

For maintenance or restoration of your monument, you can apply for a grant. Do you own a municipal monument? Then you can apply for a subsidy or financial contribution from the municipality.

As the owner of a national monument, you can apply for a subsidy through Monumenten.nl.

What to do.

Municipal monument

Before submitting a grant application, contact the municipality about the work you want to do. In this preliminary consultation, your and the municipality's expectations will become clear and you may be able to avoid submitting an application that is later rejected.

Apply online for the grant to maintain or restore a municipal monument.

Your application must be accompanied by:
  • An itemized budget for the cost of maintenance or an itemized bill for the subscription or inspection report from the Monuments Watch;
  • If applicable, a specification or statement of work;
  • If applicable, drawings showing the existing and to-be-made condition of the property (scale 1: 100);
  • If applicable, name and address of contractor(s)/performing companies;
  • If applicable, a V.A.T. statement;
    • If applicable, a recent structural condition inspection report:
      • According to the methodology of the Monuments Watch.
      • Prepared by an independent expert or expert body that the college accepts.

National Monument

Complete the application form provided for this purpose by the National Cultural Heritage Agency.

Note: Keep in mind that as a monument owner, you cannot make all changes to your monument without question. You are also required to perform maintenance work if it is necessary for the preservation of the monument.
