Permit application

What is it?

When demolition notification/demolition permit required?

The demolition notification is required if:

  • more than 10 m3 of waste is released during demolition;
  • asbestos is removed, demolished or dismantled (no lower quantity limit applies here).
  • If you are removing less than 35 m2 of asbestos, you may take it to the waste disposal site yourself (without guidance from a certified company). However, you must report this to the municipality. Look for the Requirements at Asbestos.

In some cases, a demolition permit (environmental permit application) is required:

  • at monuments;
  • within a protected townscape;
  • in an area where an environmental plan requires an environmental permit for demolition (usually related to archaeology).

What to do.

Demolition notification/permit application

You must submit a demolition notification at least four weeks before the work begins. For an application for an environmental permit for the demolition work, you should allow for a period of 8 weeks.

You can arrange both the notification and the permit online through the Omgevingsloket.

The documents submitted must also include an asbestos inventory report (for buildings constructed after 1994, this is not required).
