Options renunciation

When relinquishing your driver's license, you have 2 options:

• You waive certain categories on your driver's license. These categories become invalid. Only through an exam can you reactivate them.

• You surrender your driver's license. Your driving license will be declared invalid. If you still want to drive after that, you must take a new driving test. 

Surrendering your driver's license

1. Complete the waiver form. 
2. Make an appointment at City Hall. 
3. During your appointment, turn in the completed form along with your driver's license. 
4. You will be given a confirmation to take home that you have relinquished your driver's license.

Renouncing a category

If you have multiple categories on your driver's license, you can choose to relinquish one of them. For example, you may choose to surrender your car license (B) while still using your moped license (AM). 

1. Complete the waiver form. 
2. Make an appointment at City Hall. 
3. During your appointment, turn in the completed form along with your driver's license. 
4. Apply for a new driver's license with only the desired categories.
