The Oude Landen Cemetery is a public cemetery. Anyone can be buried here, regardless of residence or religion.
The cemetery is owned and maintained by the municipality of Nuenen.
Cemetery upgrade project
In 2023 and 2024 the municipality of Nuenen - together with Jos Kanters Groenvoorziening and the Stichting Beheer gemeentelijke begraafplaats Oude Landen - carried out the project Upgrade cemetery Oude Landen. With this project, we gave more expression to the original design of the cemetery and the development of a park-like environment. During the project, we also explored ways to achieve a higher level of quality in the management and maintenance of the greenery.
What did the upgrade entail?
We started working on a sustainable way to manage and maintain the cemetery's green spaces. During the project, certain things were accomplished such as planting new trees and plants, improving the soil structure, installing drainage and top dressing on the asphalt portion of the walkways and parking lot. There were also new water taps with storage space for watering cans. We modified mowing in some areas to promote biodiversity. In doing so, we keep in mind that existing and new graves remain easily accessible. Sowing flower mixtures attracts more butterflies and insects. Furthermore, a sanitary facility has been created for visitors during ceremonies and a flower cutting table with separate waste collection.
