Implementation decree municipal cemetery municipality of Nuenen c.a. 2026
The College of Mayor and Aldermen of Nuenen, Gerwen and Nederwetten, having regard to the 'Management ordinance municipal cemeteries municipality of Nuenen c.a. 2026'
Decides to adopt the "Implementation Decree Municipal Cemetery Nuenen c.a. 2026".
Article 1. Opening and burial times.
- The cemetery is open daily from sunrise to sunset.
- The time of burial of bodies and delivery of ashes is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
- The college may deviate from these times in special cases whereby an additional charge will be levied on the person entitled to the grave.
Article 2. Number of deceased and ashes interred.
A maximum of:
a. private grave 2 people and 2 ashes
b. private Islamic grave 1 person
c. private child grave 2 people and 2 ashes
d. private urn grave 4 ashes or urns
e. private urn niche 2 ashes or urns- The second layer concerns the first buried and the first layer concerns the second buried.
- The college may change the number of deceased and ashes if it is not objectionable due to the situation in the grave.
Article 3. Grave terms
The college shall grant, to the extent that the designated space of the cemetery permits, the following exclusive rights:
a. the right to a private (children's) grave for a term of 20 years or indefinitely;
b.the right to a private Islamic grave for an indefinite term;
c. the right to a private urn grave or urn niche for a term of 20 years.- The right referred to in paragraphs 1a and 1c, of this article may be renewed at the request of the right holder for a period of 10 years each time.
- The grave right shall be confirmed in writing by the college through a grave certificate.
Article 4. Dimensions of memorials
The dimensions (lxw) of the area of the memorials are:
a. private grave 190 x 90 cm
b. private Islamic grave 190 x 90 cm
c. private child grave 120 x 60 cm
d. private urn grave 50 x 50 cm
Article 5. Requirements memorials
- Only durable materials may be used for memorials, such as natural stone, metal, ceramic, durable plastics or a preserved wood species.
- The length and width of the memorial shall not exceed those of the grave, mentioned in Article 4.
- The components must be permanently attached to the memorial.
- Memorials must be founded in such a way that subsidence is not possible. The construction must be such that it can be disassembled and reassembled without breaking the cement joints. Any joints must be professionally made.
- In the Islamic section of the cemetery, memorials should be sober. The placement of works of art or monumental memorials is not permitted. Nor are images or engravings of countries, persons, folded hands or other recognizable figures allowed. In this way, the appearance of the cemetery remains subdued, uniform and peaceful.
Article 6. Memorial Application
- The installation or replacement of an (Islamic) memorial requires approval granted by the administrator.
An application for the placement or replacement of a memorial must be made in writing to the cemetery administrator. A working drawing should be submitted with the application. On this work drawing should at least appear:
a. a top, front and side view with all height, width, thickness and length measurements;
b. the type, color and processing of the material to be used;
c. an indication of whether the letters etc. are carved or made of metal;
d. the wording of the inscription and the location of figuration(s);
e. the material of the foundation and the method of attaching the memorial to it;
f. the grave number concerned.- The placement or replacement of an (Islamic) memorial is always scheduled in a timely manner in coordination with the cemetery administrator.
- The decision on the application shall be communicated by the administrator in writing.
Article 7. Dimensions of memorials
The dimensions of a memorial on a private (Islamic) grave must meet the following requirements:
a. situation lying down: length 190 cm x width 90 cm
b. situation standing up: width 90 cm x height max 100 cm x length max 50 cm (including memorial)The dimensions of a memorial on a private children's grave must meet the following requirements:
a. situation lying: length 120 cm x width 60 cm
b. situation standing: width 60 cm x height max 100 cm x length max 50 cm (including memorial)The dimensions of a memorial on an urn grave has the maximum dimensions of:
a. length 50 cm x width 50 cm x thickness 5 cm
- The college may grant waivers from the said dimensions.
- A temporary memorial (sign with name of deceased, date of birth and date of death) is placed by the administrator at the Islamic grave ceremony.
Article 8. Placement of memorial
- Notice of the time of placement, repair or replacement of the memorial shall be given to the cemetery administrator at least two working days in advance. In consultation with the administrator, it will be determined when and under what Requirements the work is to be performed.
- Placement of memorials shall take place on Monday through Thursday under the times set forth in Article 1, paragraph 1.
- If damage occurs as a result of work on or about the memorial, the person causing it must report to the cemetery administrator. In consultation with the administrator, it will be determined whether the damage will be repaired by or at the expense of the perpetrator.
- If (Islamic) memorials do not meet the Requirements as included in this Executive Order, the cemetery administrator may remove them. To avoid this, we recommend contacting the administrator in advance if in doubt.
Article 9. Grave planting
- The surface of the private grave may be planted by the owner of the grave with crops that do not exceed the area available for the grave, in Article 4, or that can be kept within the area by pruning. The height of these crops shall not exceed the height allowed for the memorial on the grave, in Article 7.
- Crops planted or overhanging outside the space of the grave area may be removed by the municipality without any obligation to pay compensation. This also applies to dead plantings.
- Potted plants and flowers in vases may be placed on graves. Loose flowers may be placed on a grave. Annual plants may be planted on a grave.
- Hardy plants planted on private graves shall not exceed the height of the grave cover when fully mature and shall not exceed the area available for the grave or shall be capable of being kept within the area by pruning.
- Placed Christmas arrangements must be removed by the rightful owner no later than February 1 of the following year. If, on February 1, said Christmas arrangements are still present, they will be removed and destroyed by the municipality without any claim for compensation.
- The Islamic section of the cemetery has an austere and peaceful appearance. Therefore, there is no room for artificial flowers, artificial plants or decorations, such as pebbles or plastic flowers, tea lights, stuffed animals, images of angels, plastic or glass bottles of water, etc. No loose flowers will be placed on graves either. Flowers placed after a funeral will be removed within two weeks. Again, please inquire with the cemetery administrator in advance.
Article 10. Final Provisions
- This implementation decree may be cited as: "Implementation Decree Municipal Cemetery Nuenen c.a. 2026".
- The Executive Order supersedes all prior cemetery regulations regarding grave coverings.
- This executive order shall enter into force on the day after its publication.
