Apply for electric car charging point

Individuals and businesses that drive electric cars cannot always put a charging station on their own property. You can request a public charging point. The municipality chooses where to place the charging station.

Overview of public charging stations

In Nuenen, the network of public charging stations will be expanded by Vattenfall Incharge in the coming years. At public charging stations of our cooperation partner Vattenfall InCharge you always charge 100% from wind generated electricity from Dutch windmills.

Requirements

Requirements for applying for a public charging station include:

  • You cannot install a charging station on your own property.
  • You drive an electric car.

Proposal submission new location

There may not yet be a charging station close to you. Through Vattenfall's website you can submit a proposal for a new location. Every six months, the municipality, together with Vattenfall, looks at the best performing charging stations and proposals from residents. This analysis determines where new charging stations will be placed the following six months. That charging station costs you nothing, you only pay for charging your electric car.
Check the Vattenfall InCharge website .

Applying for a charging pass

To use the charging stations you need a charging card. At Vattenfall public charging stations, you charge most advantageously with the Vattenfall InCharge charging card. You then pay only the kWh rate and no additional costs. This charging card is free of charge and works at all public charging stations in the Netherlands. You can apply for the charge card here

Quickly find charging stations nearby

There are all kinds of apps that help you find a charging station nearby. Our cooperation partner Vattenfall InCharge offers the free InCharge app. In it you can find all public charging stations. You can also see if a charging station is free and drive there directly with the built-in navigation function. You can also use this app to start your charging session and pay easily. Download the app here.

Objection and appeal

The installation of a charging station requires a traffic decree. Such a decision is subject to objection and appeal.

Frequently Asked Questions

To charge on your own property or not?

Unfortunately, under our current regulations, it is not possible to use a private charging station without owning a private driveway. In our General Local Bye-Law (APV)there are articles that do not allow a cable over the sidewalk. Enforcement action will therefore be taken on this.

Article 2:15 Obnoxious planting or dangerous object

[It is prohibited to affix or have planting or an object in such a way as to obstruct the unobstructed view to road traffic or otherwise cause a nuisance or danger to road traffic].

Article 5 WVW 1994

It is forbidden for any person to behave in such a way as to cause or be likely to cause danger on the road or to impede or be likely to impede traffic on the road.

What does a public charging station cost?

Nothing. You only pay for charging your electric car. An overview of the rates can be found here.

Will it be my own charging station?

No, the charging station is public and for everyone to use. To ensure that everyone can use the public charging stations, we ask that you remove your car again when it is charged.

Who decides if there will be a charging station and where it will be placed?

We do this together with our cooperation partner Vattenfall InCharge. Every six months, Vattenfall InCharge and the municipality look at the performance of charging stations and proposals for potential locations from residents. Based on this, it is determined where new charging stations will be placed. Vattenfall InCharge looks at where charging stations are commonly used and, in cooperation with the municipality and based on information from the grid operator, chooses a suitable location nearby.

What should I do if there is a malfunction on a public charging station?

It may happen that a charging station is malfunctioning. Call the fault number on the charging station or report the fault via the Vattenfall Incharge app. Via the app you will be informed when the fault has been resolved.

How many cars can charge at the charging station at the same time?

Two electric cars can charge at the same time. There is one charging point on each side of the charging station.

How many parking spaces will be reserved at the charging station?

When a charging station is installed, two parking spaces are immediately reserved for charging electric cars. The municipality may have different policies, in which case Vattenfall InCharge places the charging stations according to the local policy.

Which charging stations will be installed?

The charging stations being installed are from suppliers Alfen and Evonity. These charging stations are prepared for future innovations and have a display. The charging capacity of these charging stations goes up to a maximum of 11 kW.

Do these charging stations burden the power grid?

The charging stations offer an opportunity to relieve the electricity grid by Smart and Grid-conscious charging. This allows us to make the best possible use of grid capacity at busy times. When peak traffic occurs, electric drivers charge with less power without being inconvenienced. In this way we jointly combat grid overload. Is this not a good time? Then you can turn off Smart Charging via the InCharge app or the QR code on the charging station.

At what speed can I charge at the charging station?

The charging stations have a charging capacity of up to 11 kW. The actual speed at which you will charge depends on the type of car and how busy the electricity grid is. The charging station provides the highest possible power available, provided the car can charge at that speed.

Also, the actual speed at which you will charge depends on the occupancy of the charging station:

If one 3-phase car is charging then it gets 3x 16 amps

If there are two 3-phase cars charging they each get 3x 12 amps

If one 1-phase car is charging then it gets 1x 16 amps

If there are two 1-phase cars charging they also get 1x 16 amps each

The charging station always gives at least 3.7 kW to electric cars connected.

What can I do if the charging station is often occupied?

Report this via the Vattenfall InCharge app. If there is high usage of a charging station nearby, we may be able to place an additional charging station. You can submit a proposal for a location here
