Is someone coming to stay with you from abroad and is he or she not from a European Union country? If so, that person will need a visa to stay in the Netherlands. 

Your lodger will also need a guarantor and/or lodging grant. This is a form from the Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) that your guest can use to show that they have lodging and possibly someone to guarantee their expenses or debts. 

Your foreign guest will need this document with his or her visa application.

Private lodging

With a lodging grant, you indicate that you are providing temporary lodging (accommodation) to a non-European guest. This is the same form as the guarantor form. 

Guarantee

If you check the guarantee form then you are declaring that you will financially guarantee any costs and debts your non-European visitor incurs during his or her visit to the Netherlands. 

You indicate this on the same form you use to provide lodging services. 

Legalize signature 

Your signature is requested at the bottom of the form. 

• Legalizing your signature
  Is the person you are inviting to the Netherlands subject to a visa requirement? Then you will need a stamp and confirmation from the municipality that the signature on the form was actually placed by you. This is called "legalizing a signature.
   
• Don't legalize your signature
  If the person you are inviting to the Netherlands does not require a visa then it is not necessary to legalize your signature at the municipality. 

Number of signatures 

• Lodging:
  1 signature on the form is sufficient.
   
• Proof of guarantee:
  2 signatures if you are married/registered partnership. Then a legalized signature from each partner is required.

Needed at guarantor/logy provision

1. Download the form'Proof of sponsorship and/or private accommodation' from the IND.
    
2. Fill out the application form. Note: do not put your signature at the bottom yet!
    
3. Make an appointment at City Hall. 

Fill out form in advance 

It is important that you have already completed the form (without signatures) prior to coming to City Hall. 

We do not have this form in stock at the municipality because this is an IND process. The municipality legalizes the signature but is not otherwise concerned with the content. 

Bring to your appointment 

• The completed form without your signature(s). 
   
• A valid form of identification. 
   
• Are you married or in a registered partnership?
  Then your partner + his/her valid ID is also required during the appointment if you are a financial guarantor for the one you invite.
   

During your appointment at City Hall, only put your signature(s) at the bottom of the form. The desk clerk will then put a stamp and confirm that this is actually your signature.
