The economic growth in the Brainport region offers you as an entrepreneur opportunities, but also challenges. We hear questions such as: where can I still find room to grow, how do I take steps to make my business more sustainable and how do I deal smartly with energy? The answers lie largely in cooperation. The municipality of Nuenen and Ondernemers Contact Nuenen (OCN) therefore cordially invite you to discuss these issues further on March 18 in order to achieve future-proof growth in our business parks. 

Invitation to entrepreneurs' breakfast Future-proof growth at business parks

Regional agreements are made about the programming of new business sites and the quality of existing sites. To this end, the Nuenen City Council adopted the MRE Work Locations Vision at the end of December 2024. 

There are also challenges in our municipality, such as the need for business expansion, the full power grid and sustainability issues. The growth of entrepreneurship within the municipality requires a strategic vision for expansion and redevelopment of business parks. The municipality wants to support entrepreneurs in their entrepreneurship and facilitate growth within the existing spatial frameworks. Moreover, we want to steer for quality, as we have agreed regionally.

In good cooperation, entrepreneurs, property owners and the municipality can meet the challenges. We will discuss this cooperation with Nuenen's entrepreneurs on March 18, 2025. We will discuss the most important themes and developments for the business parks and ask entrepreneurs and owners to think and act on these. 

Themes

• Better use of existing business parks
  The business parks in Nuenen are largely spent, while the need for expansion is great. We are investigating opportunities to use the existing space more efficiently. Here we are looking at possibilities such as function sharing, building in width and/or height and restructuring the business parks. We are also looking at opportunities for flexible work locations and shared facilities.
• Address rising energy costs and grid congestion
  Entrepreneurs are struggling with rising energy costs and grid congestion. Nuenen Municipality and Brainport Development are working together on this issue. An Energy Hub director is conducting a feasibility study on energy sharing and more efficient energy use for a number of companies. With the knowledge we gain from this, we can also support other entrepreneurs. By encouraging local energy storage and exchange between companies, together we can reduce grid congestion and offer companies a perspective for growth and sustainability.  
• Making business parks more sustainable
  The Eindhoven Metropolitan Region (MRE) supports sustainability with so-called "boosters. These boosters help entrepreneurs develop joint sustainability initiatives. These include circular business operations, climate-adaptive design of sites and the use of renewable energy sources. Based on your input, a theme relevant to the local situation is chosen for each terrain and/or subarea. 

Meeting with entrepreneurs on March 18

On Tuesday, March 18, the municipality together with Ondernemers Contact Nuenen (OCN) is organizing an entrepreneurs' breakfast. The purpose of the meeting is to inform you about current projects and to select themes to work on collectively. What opportunities do we see and what needs are there? Based on your input, a theme will be selected for both Berkenbos and Eeneind. Regional agreements have been made about space for business sites. When we know what space is available on existing business parks and have a good idea of your needs, we can have a better discussion about this in the region. 

What we do with the input collected

After the meeting we will take stock of the input gathered. We will include this in the implementation program for making business parks more sustainable. We will also use the input for any follow-up actions within current projects to keep the business parks in Nuenen future-proof.
