Province Adopts Response Memorandum in Investigation into Underground Cable Connection Between Eindhoven East and Maarheeze
A new underground cable connection will be installed between the Eindhoven Oost and Maarheeze high-voltage substations. From January 9, 2026, through February 19, 2026, the public had the opportunity to comment on the project’s Notice of Intent and Public Participation. On April 14, 2026, the Provincial Executive of North Brabant adopted the Response Memorandum. In this Response Memorandum, the province addresses the comments and describes how they will be incorporated into the subsequent process.
During the public comment period, everyone had the opportunity to submit feedback. For example, by suggesting solutions or indicating how they would like to be involved in the project. A total of 20 responses were received. The responses indicate that there are concerns in the community about the impact of this project, particularly in conjunction with other initiatives aimed at strengthening the energy grid. In addition, respondents expressed a desire to be more closely involved in the follow-up process.
No changes to the participation plan
The Response Memorandum outlines how the submitted comments will be addressed. Based on the comments received, the participation plan will not be amended. The participation plan is a dynamic document that can be adjusted throughout the process. All commenters have now been notified individually.
