Council members often have jobs or are pursuing studies in addition to working for the City Council. To keep everything running smoothly, the clerk and staff from the Municipal Clerk’s Office assist council members.

The clerk is the "secretary" of the City Council. The clerk is independent and neutral. From this position, the clerk advises on proposals and working methods of the council. To properly represent the interests of the council, the clerk works closely with the mayor and the city clerk. Meetings, special evenings of the council, talks, working visits and working groups of the city council can be supported by the clerk and the Municipal Clerk’s Office .
