Fighting slipperiness, we make sure it stays exceptionally safe!
In winter, there is a chance of frost and snow. Result: slipperiness on the streets. Fortunately, the glad gladheidsbestrijders of the municipality of Nuenen are ready for you! They go out whenever there is a chance of ice. You can even follow their activities via the X-account (former Twitter) @strooiploeg.
The municipality is responsible
The municipality is responsible when it comes to fighting slipperiness. We do this every winter season on roads, bike paths and walkways. We do not do this on all roads, because that is not feasible. In the implementation plan you can read exactly where we do what.
Where do we scatter?
Generally, we sprinkle on:
- main roads, think of access roads from residential areas and bus routes;
- major other roads. For example, at public facilities such as stores, schools, healthcare facilities and business parks;
- overpasses and bridges;
- bike paths and bicycle routes
This map shows exactly which streets (the green lines) and bike paths (the purple lines) we grit when it is slippery.
What do we do when it snows?
When it snows really hard, gritting alone is no longer enough. In that case, we go out with snow plows and brushes. We also clear snow from the pedestrian areas in the city center and at care centers.
Where do we not scatter?
Unfortunately, it is impossible to grit everywhere. Therefore, we do not grit on sidewalks and streets in residential areas or on public lands.
Your own sidewalk snow-free
You can help yourself, too! Health , for example, keep the sidewalk in front of your own home free of snow and ice as much as possible. Also help the people in your neighborhood who can no longer do this themselves. Together we can keep Nuenen exceptionally safe when it gets slippery!
