Heritage
Heritage is increasingly becoming a source of inspiration for new developments. By making our heritage visible and thus experienceable, the story of Nuenen, Gerwen and Nederwetten becomes increasingly clear.
Our municipality has a rich past and there is still much heritage that reminds us of it. We believe it is important to preserve and maintain this heritage. This includes sharing information about our heritage with our residents.
Together with the regional archaeologist of the Omgevingsdienst Zuid Oost Brabant, members of the Heemkundekring De Drijehornick and members of the Heritage sounding board group, we worked hard to gather all available information. This is an ongoing process because more and more is coming to light. Literally by archaeological excavations and figuratively by studying old documents.
All the information has been compiled in the paper: Building Blocks for the Future. This document describes topics such as archaeology, historic buildings (monuments) and the landscape. Archaeology involves not only excavations and sites, but also information about the likelihood of archaeological finds on your piece of land. Historical buildings are described and on the Map you can find all national and municipal monuments. The origins of our landscape are also described, revealing why certain places look the way they do today.
On the website of the Omgevingsdienst Zuid Oost Brabant you can find the Interactive Heritage Map of Nuenen.
