Monitoring of migrant workers
On the evening of Thursday, May 7, 2026, the Dommelstroom Intervention Team (DIT) conducted an administrative inspection in Nuenen. This inspection focused on migrant workers residing within the municipality. The visited locations were inspected for, among other things, fire safety, hygiene, and compliance with the Environmental Plan. In addition, the inspection focused on whether the individuals staying at the locations are legally in the Netherlands and, if necessary, are registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP). The inspection involved supervisors from the municipality of Nuenen, AVIM (police), and the Brabant Southeast Safety Region.
Why check?
These inspections help us improve the quality of life and safety in the municipality of Nuenen. By conducting these inspections in collaboration with other participating partners, we ensure comprehensive oversight. This allows us to address any violations immediately during a single visit. Those involved are also informed right away about what they can do to rectify the violation.
Results of the audit
- A total of 5 locations where migrant workers are housed were visited.
- We have been in contact with 25 migrant workers—partly via the interpreter hotline—regarding their stay in the Netherlands. Three migrant workers filled out a form on-site, allowing them to be BRP in the BRP at the location where they are staying. Six migrant workers who were not present at the locations still need to submit this form.
- The housing was generally in good condition at all locations. A few smoke detectors still need to be installed at two locations. The owners of the accommodations will be notified in writing.
- The municipality is conducting a further investigation into whether three locations are in violation of the Environmental Plan.
The inspection went smoothly. All individuals involved who were present cooperated fully.
About the Dommelstroom Intervention Team (DIT).
The Dommelstroom Intervention Team is a collaboration between several partners, of which the municipality of Nuenen is also part. The DIT plays an important role in the integral approach to enforcement bottlenecks and undermining crime. Under the direction of the DIT, regular inspections of premises and locations take place. The team checks for fire safety, accounting, illegal occupancy, permits, registration in the Basic Registration of Persons, human trafficking, prostitution, drugs, social security fraud and other violations.
