'Together for a safe neighborhood' campaign

This week the municipality is launching a campaign on drug labs and hemp nurseries. With the campaign "Together for a safe neighborhood" residents and entrepreneurs are made aware of this form of undermining crime. What signals can you look out for? And how can you report any suspicions? You will see advertisements and messages about this on the social media channels Facebook and Instagram over the next four weeks. Because living safely in your neighborhood should be normal for everyone.

Drug production poses danger to local residents. Hazardous materials are handled, with risks of fire and explosions. There are also risks to health and the environment. And it brings crime into the neighborhood. Tackling drug crime is not something the government can do alone; it can only succeed together. Do you see something suspicious? Report it, because every suspicion counts!

Recognizing Signals

Drugs are produced not only in abandoned sheds in the countryside, but also in garage boxes or homes in the middle of residential areas. Of course, criminals do everything they can to camouflage their activities, but you can still recognize signs. Think for example of taped windows, cameras on facades, strange smells and persons at strange times.

Increase willingness to report

If you see things that don't make sense you can report it. Surveys show that many residents and business owners do not do this. Sometimes out of fear, but often because they do not know what they can really look out for or where they can report suspicions. With this campaign, the municipality wants to increase the willingness to report.

Anonymous reporting is truly anonymous

Reporting suspicions can be done with the police, but many people find this exciting. It can also be done anonymously at Report Crime Anonymously (M.). Reporting to M. is always anonymous. M. does not see telephone numbers, does not record conversations and does not take notes of traceable information. Anonymous is therefore really anonymous!
