Bronze medal of honor for Huub Janssen

On Wednesday afternoon, April 13, 2022, retired teacher Huub Janssen, organizer of the school soccer tournaments for many years, received the bronze medal of honor of the municipality of Nuenen at his farewell. At the end of the school soccer tournament at RKSV Nuenen, Alderman Joep Pernot presented the award.

Earnings

Huub Janssen has been a member of the interscollegiate sports council for 42 years. For years he has been the enthusiastic chairman of this sports council. Today he said goodbye as the initiator and organizer of the soccer tournament for groups 5 to 8 of all schools in Nuenen. This tournament is held every year at the soccer fields of RKSV Nuenen. Previously this was organized at the Luistruik. The sports council also organizes, for example, the chess/dam tournament, the korfball tournament at NKV, the basketball tournament in the Hongerman etc. Huub is always very enthusiastic. He also used to be actively involved in carnival and the start of the children's showpiece sessions in the Klooster and he made sure that more schools participated in the parade. Many colleagues from other Nuenen schools enjoyed working with him. He himself was very sporty and loved soccer very much, so he played and trained at quite a good level. He also organized many sporting outings. He is a jack-of-all-trades and always knew how to make the musical and the camp a success. Even now he is still asked to accompany the school camp.

Teacher

Huub has been an elementary school teacher since 1975. Started at the Refelingschool then at De nieuwe Linde in Nuenen-Oost, then Heuvelrijk in Gerwen and finally from the substitute pool in Mariahout. All schools of the Eenbes board. He has been a valued teacher who could prepare the children from the highest groups with enough baggage to start at secondary school. During the corona period he retired. 

Homage

The Parkbloazers provided the musical accompaniment. They exist 40 years this year and this anniversary year they would like to put Huub in the spotlight musically. The Sports Council has also decided to rename the school soccer tournament the Huub Janssen school soccer tournament. They will also award a cup bearing Huub's name every year. The school with the highest score after two afternoons will receive the Huub Janssen challenge cup. That way, his name will remain connected to this unique soccer tournament in which more than 500 children participate every year.

With this bronze award, the City Council wishes to express, on behalf of all residents, its appreciation and gratitude.
