Construction and remodeling, inspection

What is it?

The municipality checks that everyone who builds or renovates follows the rules. For example, whether they are building according to building regulations. And whether there is a permit to rebuild. The municipality also checks for noise, vibrations and waste.

If you think a construction or renovation is not going according to the rules, you can report it to the municipality.

How does it work?

Municipal inspectors conduct the inspection. They may:

  • entering buildings without permission
  • request information
  • Review business records and documents and make copies of them
  • Examining things, e.g. opening packages and taking stuff

The inspectors should never enter homes without the permission of the residents.

If the municipality finds that a building or renovation is not going according to the rules, it can stop the construction or renovation. The municipality can also close access to the building.

What to do.

Report it to the municipality if you think a construction or remodeling project is not going according to the rules.
