Leaf boxes and permanent green bins

What is it?

In autumn, leaves on the streets cause inconvenience and create more garden and pruning waste than during the rest of the year. For leaf waste, the municipality places temporary leaf baskets each year. Small amounts of pruning and garden waste can be taken to one of the permanent green bins or free of charge to the environmental site.

What to do.

Leaf Collectors

In the last quarter of the year, we temporarily place a leaf basket in about 128 places in the municipality. So there is always one nearby. Check here for the locations.

The leaf baskets are for leaf litter only. The municipality is investigating options for processing and recycling leaf litter. Therefore, leaf waste is collected separately. This means that no branches or other trimmings may be left in the leaf baskets.

The leaf boxes are emptied weekly according to a set route. During emptying we check whether the correct type of waste is in the basket. In case of improper use we hand out yellow and red Maps . A yellow Map is a warning; a red Map means the leaf bin is permanently removed for that season. The following season the leaf baskets are reinstalled and reviewed.

In some places the leaf boxes have been moved or removed, for example to the outer edges of neighborhoods. This is because we cannot maneuver the truck properly in narrow streets.

The leaf baskets that have been removed are baskets that are structurally misused for other trash, blocked by parked cars or barely used.

The leaf baskets will be removed again at the end of December. Once the leaf basket is removed, no leaf litter may be left behind.

Permanent green bins

As a service to our residents, there are permanent green bins at various locations in Nuenen. These green bins are emptied twice a week (in principle every Monday and Friday). If a green bin is full, you can go to another one or to the environmental street.

Permanent green bins are not intended for food waste, pet manure, commercial waste (landscapers) and/or large quantities (trees, shrubs, etc.). Large quantities can be brought to the environmental street for free.

Prefer not to use the green bins after sunset or before sunrise.
