The municipal council must be able to audit the municipal organization financially. In order to adequately and permanently support the council in its financial duties and responsibilities, the municipal council has created a municipal audit committee. The audit committee is basically an extension of the municipal council without political character.

The purpose of the audit committee is to coordinate on the audit and Planning & Control cycle so that it is efficient and effective. The powers and duties are laid down in the Regulation Audit Committee Municipality of Nuenen 2023.
