The renovation and expansion of the Hongerman will give Nuenen a preserved and future-proof indoor sports facility with an additional gymnasium at Hoge Brake 3. The cultural-societal facility at that location will also be renovated. With this, the municipality will provide sufficient legally required indoor locations for exercise education by elementary school and modern spaces for the social organizations located in Nuenen-Zuid. The sports hall will be renovated and made more sustainable, allowing indoor sports clubs to use it for a long time to come.

In the coming months, all parties involved will work together to detail the technical and organizational design. Preparatory work will start in the spring of 2025. Then the area around the Hongerman will be set up as a construction site. Measures will also be taken to protect flora and fauna. After that, demolition and construction work will begin. First, the new multifunctional area and a gymnasium will be built on the south side of the current building. The old multipurpose rooms will then be demolished. Then the sports hall itself will be renovated. The building will remain in use during the work.
