Housing construction in Gerwen and Nederwetten
Housing construction in Gerwen and Nederwetten
The municipality of Nuenen has begun a study of options for realizing new housing development in Gerwen and Nederwetten in 2024. You can read more about this on this page.
The demand for housing is urgent. More housing is needed for both starters and seniors in the housing market. This also applies to the smaller cores: Gerwen and Nederwetten. Adding housing here is a top priority for the college and the town council, as laid down in the coalition agreement. The municipality is therefore looking for suitable locations for housing in these cores.
In 2024, the municipality launched a feasibility study and development strategy. This study shows where housing development is possible. The feasibility study was adopted by the municipal council on February 6, 2025
Participation
Participation is central to the feasibility study and development strategy. The Alderman held discussions with landowners, village councils, sports associations and residents of Gerwen and Nederwetten.
Role Province of North Brabant
The Province of North Brabant wants to build within urban areas first before considering expansion into rural (outdoor) areas. This also fits with our municipal Environmental Vision and the provincial Environmental Ordinance. Many building locations in the villages are therefore limited. Therefore, the college will consult with the Province.
Housing initiatives
The development of locations depends on the cooperation of third parties such as landowners and sports associations. The municipality does not buy land strategically, but wants to facilitate initiators. Do you have an idea for housing development in Gerwen or Nederwetten? Please contact us. Collaboration with Space for Space
The municipality is currently exploring possibilities for cooperation with development company Ruimte voor Ruimte (RvR). The starting point for this cooperation is that the development company will plan for both villages at its own expense and risk. The role of the municipality is limited. The parties want to lay down agreements about the cooperation in a so-called cooperation agreement (hereinafter: SOK).
