City Council discusses housing project on Emma Street

The municipality of Nuenen wants to enable the construction of 12 senior housing units in the Emmahof housing project. The city council will discuss the plan in the opinion-forming meeting on Oct. 3.

History

Since 2007, the municipality has been considering housing development on this site. Previously, Het Palet elementary school stood here. In late 2019, the city council designated the site for the construction of senior housing. Planning began in early 2022. Local residents and interested parties provided input on the design of the homes during various information evenings. A sounding board group was also formed, including local residents and parties such as Senergiek and PVGE. Thanks to all the input, there is now a design for 12 senior housing units at this location.

Decision-making

The draft zoning plan for the development was available for review earlier this year. Two views were received on this. In October, the zoning plan, with a note of views, will be presented to the council. The city council will discuss the zoning plan at the judgmental council meeting on Oct. 3, 2024. If the council responds favorably, the council will be asked to make a decision at the Oct. 17, 2024 council meeting.
