Bat spotting
In Nuenen you may see ecologists wearing yellow vests biking around to spot bats in the near future. On behalf of the municipality of Nuenen, from mid-August until the end of September, these ecologists from the research agency TEIA will Map where bats fly, where they forage and where they live. In the evenings and at night they will make their rounds by bicycle through Nuenen, Gerwen and Nederwetten in search of bats. They do not do this everywhere at the same time, but during this period you can come across TEIA's ecologists in our municipality and see them at work.
Good to know

Researchers look to see bats flying and bats entering a home, through the roof or wall.
They walk or bike around and carry binoculars and other equipment. The investigation takes place from public roads and possibly from paths behind the property. They sometimes stop briefly in front of properties and shine flashlights on the facades. The ecologists can be recognized by their yellow vest with the image of a bat and the name of the research agency TEIA. And, of course, by the bat detector they carry. If you ask them, they will identify themselves.
Purpose: make it easier to insulate your home
Insulating homes and buildings should be done in a nature-friendly way. It is precisely in roofs and cavity walls that protected bats often reside. The researchers are now Map these habitats. A plan of measures will then be drawn up to prevent damage to these protected species. A permit will then be requested from the province for the entire municipality, so that you will soon be able to insulate your home without an ecological study. This will save you time and money and make insulating your home easier.
