Renovation of planting beds and public spaces
In the coming weeks, the city will be renovating flower beds at various locations and improving public spaces. Some of the plants are old, in poor condition, or pose safety hazards. That is why we are replacing these plants and redesigning the flower beds. One of the locations is Vincent van Goghstraat. The other locations are listed below.
First, we remove the old plants and roots. Then we loosen the soil and remove debris, such as rubble and roots. While doing so, we take great care to avoid cables, pipes, and the roots of trees that are being left in place.
To help new plants grow well, we add potting soil and compost to the ground. In areas where plants are still growing, we fill in any bare spots and improve the soil. Where we’re planting grass, we level the ground first. We’ll sow the grass later.
The contractor will begin work the week of March 30. Planting is expected to be completed by mid- to late April. After that, the grass will be seeded.
During the work, there may be temporary traffic disruptions, for example due to the transport of soil and materials. We will do our best to minimize any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
