Extension of municipal shelter site for Ukrainians at Vrouwkensakker
Ukrainian refugees temporarily living in the municipal shelter on Vrouwkensakker can continue to live in their now familiar place for the time being.
Since June 2, 2022, the municipality of Nuenen has been hosting Ukrainian refugees at the municipal reception site on Vrouwkensakker. As a result of the extreme violence of war and the humanitarian disaster taking place in Ukraine, many residents of that country are fleeing to safe European countries, including the Netherlands. The Dutch municipalities have agreed to respond generously to the government's call to Health together to receive these expected thousands of refugees. With the violence continuing for longer, the municipality of Nuenen and Woningstichting Helpt Elkander jointly decided to extend the lease for another year, until March 2025. The municipality of Nuenen will continue to make its contribution to accommodate these refugees.
