Start of renovation of Refelingse Erven park

On the initiative of residents of Refelingse Erven, the neighborhood parkwill undergoa major renovation in the coming years. Around sixty local residents contributed their ideas about the future of the park. A working group, supported by a landscape architect, then developed the plans further.

The start of the work was celebrated on Tuesday, March 3, with initiators Inge Koolmees, Marc Rosmalen, and Ron Jacobs, along with many other enthusiastic residents of Refelingse Erven. Together with them, Alderman Löwik symbolically planted a tree.

Due to the disappearance of trees, intensive pruning, and a lack of biodiversity, the park's natural appearance had faded over time. The area also no longer met today's needs. As a result, residents felt that the park was increasingly losing its significance for the neighborhood. They want a pleasant place to exercise, play, and meet each other.

The plan is divided into three phases, and by 2028, the park will have been completely renovated. Theparkwill then be more attractive for both people and nature. It will be a place where flowers, shrubs, and trees provide color all year round and where birds and other animals have their home. And there will be more space for play, sports, socializing, and relaxation.

The municipality and the initiators have concluded a participation agreement. In this agreement, they have made arrangements regarding the construction and management of the park. What is special about this is that the residents are responsible for the maintenance of the green areas (planting, flower beds, etc.). The municipality will supply the necessary materials and maintain the trees and lawns. It will also construct semi-paved paths made of olivine. In addition, the municipality will play a supporting role. It will contribute ideas for feasible solutions, assess the plans against policy frameworks, and supervise the work.
