Start of the carnival with D'n Aftrap

Carnival has officially begun. Mayor Madeleine van Toorenburg handed over the keys to this year's reigning highnesses today during D'n Aftrap. Under loud cheers and applause, they received the keys, with which they temporarily take over the power and enjoyment of Carnival. Medals were also handed over to the carters of Carnival 2023. In a colorful ceremony, revelers marked the beginning of carnival today.
