Nuenen municipality and Wooninc. strengthen cooperation for future caravan sites

The municipality of Nuenen and housing corporation Wooninc. have entered into a letter of intent to work more closely together in managing the current and developing new caravan sites. This marks an important step towards a sustainable and future-proof interpretation of this form of housing in Nuenen.

Joint approach and expertise

In Nuenen there are four caravan sites. Two of these are owned by the municipality (locations Bosweg and Kremersbos), one by Wooninc. (location Pieterveld) and one by Helpt Elkander (location Mieke Sandershof). The agreement focuses on sharing knowledge and expertise on the policy and operation of trailer sites. The municipality and Wooninc. are also looking into whether a future transfer of municipal caravan sites at Bosweg and Kremersbos to Wooninc. is possible and desirable. The Mieke Sandershof location will be transferred - as part of the proposed merger - from Helpt Elkander to Wooninc. In addition, a possible new location and an expansion of an existing location for caravans in the municipality of Nuenen are being examined. This would mean a highly desirable expansion of the number of sites in Nuenen. 

Management and operation 

Management and operation of caravan sites is not a core task of the municipality. Therefore, the municipality started looking for a suitable cooperation partner. Wooninc. is a specialist in the field of management and exploitation of caravan sites. Wooninc. owns and manages various sites in other municipalities and has therefore gained extensive experience and expertise.

Explore further cooperation

Wooninc. and the municipality will now examine, among other things, the feasibility, Requirements, legal and financial consequences of further cooperation. The Agreement establishes an obligation of effort, but not yet an obligation to transfer work or ownership. Any transfer will always require a separate decision by the city council and the Wooninc. supervisory board.

Renovation Bosweg continues as usual

For the residents of Nuenen's caravan sites, nothing will change for the time being. The renovation of the Bosweg caravan site will continue under the direction of the municipality. The municipality and Wooninc. have agreed that the municipality will keep Wooninc. informed of decisions and developments regarding the renovation and that Wooninc. will advise the municipality.
