Renovation of Hongerman officially launched
On Thursday, July 10, those involved in the renovation of De Hongerman marked the official start of work. Alderman Sandor Löwik emphasized the importance of De Hongerman for Nuenen-Zuid: "We are not only building a new sports hall that is important for sports infrastructure and education, but there will also be a new multifunctional accommodation for associations and elderly people within the community. This will be the new beating heart in Nuenen-Zuid. The time for talking is over, we are going to do!" Together with director/owner of BanBouw Jack Aldenhoven, he performed a symbolic act.
The Hongerman will undergo a major renovation and preservation of the sports facility in the coming year. A gymnasium will be added and the multipurpose rooms will be completely renovated. The building will remain in use during the work. First, the new multifunctional area will be built now and the sports support facilities will be renewed. This will be followed by the demolition and reconstruction of the existing multipurpose rooms and the renovation of the sports hall. After the summer of 2026, the complete renovation should be completed.
